  1. READ ME FILE FOR ST ALADDIN VERSION 1.2  01/10/90

  3. This version is much faster then the original version of ST Aladdin
  4. it also takes better advantage of Computers with large amounts of 
  5. memory.  One of the ways it is faster is by using a larger disk buffer. 
  6. Aladdin ST  has an entirely new editor,  key stroke compatible with 
  7. the old one.  Its just a world quicker and better!   Numerous little things
  8. were touched up and cleaned up.

  11. UNDER THE FILE MENU BAR
  12.  
  13. In the Configuration Menu you have three new selections. 
  14.  
  15. Non-Standard, this button should be left alone unless you are an
  16. experienced GEnie/Aladdin user. When this option is off Aladdin tells
  17. GEnie that this is Aladdin calling, and to use the optimal parameters for
  18. this Aladdin session. When this option is selected you must configure
  19. Aladdin, and GEnie to the same parameters before Aladdin can function
  20. with GEnie.

  22. Scroll, this handles how the system does the paging, if you want a
  23. line left at the top of the screen or if you do not want a line left
  24. at the top of the screen.

  26. Bookmarks, with bookmarks on, when you exit the "read messages"
  27. window, the current message number is saved in the file. The next
  28. time you read that set of messages you will be positioned to the last
  29. message you read. The nice thing about the way the bookmarks are
  30. implemented, is that they are preserved between sessions, and are
  31. only reset when a new set of messages come in.

  33. UPDATE TOPIC LIST  When you click on this choice Aladdin will call up
  34. GEnie and update all the topic lists of the RTs you have selected in
  35. the RT Config.  (You should do this every few months to update your
  36. index.. Topics do get moved and deleted)

  38. BROWSE FILE   The Browse file has been changed so that it will now
  39. load a file as big as memory.

  41. EDIT MENU
  42.  
  43. Like I mentioned previously this is a totally new editor.  It has
  44. been rewritten from the ground up.  It uses the same commands as the
  45. old one.  One new feature was added.  If you are reading a message in
  46. Roundtable BB you can press ALT C and it will save the message to
  47. the clipboard.  Then you can go to write an Email or Reply to a
  48. message and press ALT V and the message you saved to the clipboard
  49. will be there.  This will also work if you are replying to a
  50. message.  Move the cursor to the original message and press ALT C,
  51. then move the cursor back to the reply window and press ALT V.

  53. ROUNDTABLE MENU
  54. You can now Mark and Unmark topics.

  56. RTC mode,  the space optimizer was removed (except for trailing
  57. spaces)

  59. Misc.
  60.  Category Selection Bug fixed.
  61.  Editor buffer will use all available memory.
  62.  Lost reply bug fixed.
  63.  DEADMAIL.TXT now correctly contains the contents of messages
  64.  that can not be posted.

  66. SCRIPT LANGUAGE
  67.  Current executing script command is displayed in the title bar.
  68.  
  69.  New command HHH ON|OFF turns on or off the sending of "HHH"
  70.  
  71.  New keyword "AUTO" when used with the SCRIPT command, marks the
  72.  script to be used instead of the internal routines for dialing GEnie.

  74.  Pause command now gives up a time slice for incoming data

  79. PROBLEMS  
  80.  
  81. Some people are having problems with the modem not dialing or not
  82. hanging up.  If you have this problem please read Cat 1 Top 1 for
  83. info on how to configure your modem.  If that doesn't work you
  84. might possibly  need a new modem cable.   Aladdin needs a modem 
  85. cable with all the pins connected.

  88. DO NOT use copyfix.. If the original version of ICD's COPYFIX is in your 
  89. list of ACC's ST Aladdin will not function properly.
